Photovoltaics
Fields of Application
Item 1 of 2
Renewable energy wouldn't be possible without vacuum. One example are Photovoltaics (PV) which are best known as a method for generating electrical power by using solar cells to convert energy from the sun into a flow of electrons by the photovoltaic effect. There are various types of solar cell technologies. The major technologies are based on thin film deposition or on crystalline Silicon wafers.
The solar cell deposition can be achieved through various methods such as Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) or Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) or Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), all requiring vacuum.
Pfeiffer Vacuum offers expertise and a complete product portfolio to support your applications.
