For Every Application the Right Pumping Station
Reliable pump systems are an important part of many production processes. In the graduated pressure regimes, different pump technologies and configurations are used depending on the requirement profile.
The suitable pumping station for every application
In many applications, it is not possible to generate the required vacuum in the time available with a single pump. This is the case when there are large quantities of gas to be pumped or when a particularly deep vacuum ≤ 10-3 hPa is desired. Not every pump can work from atmospheric pressure, so an additional backing pump, also known as roughing pump, is required to handle the pressure difference.
Pumping stations get designed to combine several pumps. These are available in standard versions as well as individually configurable and are therefore specifically optimized for your process. In addition to availability and price, sustainability aspects such as resource requirements and energy efficiency also play a role in the decision, but also risk management and redundancies, total operating costs and, of course, application-specific requirements such as contamination avoidance.
The most frequently used vacuum pumping stations include our modular turbo pumping stations and Roots pumping stations.
Turbo pumping units for applications in high and ultra-high vacuum
Our modular pumping stations from the HiCube series impress with the combination of a turbo pump from the HiPace series with a dry or oil-sealed backing pump, which is designed to meet the application-specific requirements. The pumping station combination can be put together individually and flexibly to suit your needs. Completely configured and ready for immediate use, the turbo pump and backing pump offer perfect interaction: “Plug and Play”.

Roots pumping stations for applications in low and fine vacuum
Pfeiffer Vacuum offers you a wide variety of Roots pumping stations with different backing pumps, stages and accessories. Roots pumping stations are used in rough and fine vacuum and are a reliable solution with a high pumping speed in the transition range (from atmosphere to 10-3 mbar). Due to the different configurations, there is a suitable combination of different vacuum pumps for every production or research area.

Customized pumping stations
for tailored performance
To meet your needs, we offer standard modular solutions with some customization options. For all other requirements, we work with you to configure the right solution from our extensive product portfolio.
Different pump combinations are used here, which are supplemented by valves, gauges and standard components such as corrugated hoses and seals, but also electronic components for control (PLC). Our experts for the diverse areas of application will be happy to accompany you on the way to selecting the right pump solutions and beyond. In addition to design and construction, manufacturing, assembly and commissioning, Pfeiffer Vacuum also offers worldwide service for the maintenance of pumps and accessories. Do you need to talk? Please feel free to contact your contact person.
The Vacu2 system as a special form of a specific pumping station
Our multi-stage vacuum process Vacu² is basically a pumping station configured to suit the application: especially when die-casting large-volume structures, rapid and controlled degassing of the mold cavity is crucial for reproducibly high quality of the components. However, not only the pump performance itself is planned, but also the documentation, monitoring and control of the process before, during and after the shot.
